Palahniuk's "Fight Club" is published

Fight Club is a 1996 novel by Chuck Palahniuk. It follows the experiences of an unnamed protagonist struggling with insomnia. Inspired by his doctor's exasperated remark that insomnia is not suffering, the protagonist finds relief by impersonating a seriously ill person in several support groups. Then he meets a mysterious man named Tyler Durden.

Revival of "The Skin of Our Teeth" opens on Broadway

The Skin of Our Teeth is a play by Thornton Wilder which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It opened at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, before moving to the Plymouth Theatre on Broadway. It was produced by Michael Myerberg and directed by Elia Kazan.

Wagner's "Götterdämmerung" premieres in Bayreuth

Götterdämmerung is the last in Richard Wagner's cycle of four music dramas titled Der Ring des Nibelungen. It received its premiere at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus as part of the first complete performance of the Ring.
