60 million people in Pakistan are at risk from Arsenic poisoning

The study appeared in the journal Science Advances. The authors developed a map of contaminated groundwater pumps. They determined some 88 million people were living in high-risk areas. Given that about 60-70 percent of the population relies on groundwater, roughly 50 or 60 million were endangered.

Earthquake hits Virginia

Piedmont area in the US Virginia reached magnitude 5, 8 becoming the most powerful earthquake that hit the United States east of the Rocky Mountains. The Epicenter was 61 miles north of Richmond resulting in no casualties. The damage to the buildings of the insurance company was estimated at 200 to 300 million dollars.

TANS Perú Flight 204

It was a domestic scheduled flight operated with a Boeing 737-200 Advanced, that crashed on approach to Pucallpa Airport, 4 miles off the airfield following an emergency landing attempt because of bad weather, killing 40 of the 98 passengers and crew aboard.

Disappearance of Michelle Knight

The Ariel Castro kidnappings took place between 2002 and 2004 when three young women, Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Georgina "Gina" DeJesus, were kidnapped by Ariel Castro and held captive in his home in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. In 2013, Berry escaped with her then-six-year-old daughter and contacted the police.

The Notorious A6 Murder

James Hanratty, also known as the A6 Murderer, was hanged at Bedford Gaol in 1962, after being convicted of the murder of scientist Michael Gregsten, aged 36, who was shot dead in a car on the A6 at Deadman's Hill, near Clophill, Bedfordshire in 1961. Gregsten's mistress, Valerie Storie, was raped, shot five times, and left paralysed.
