Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer

Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the final, 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–4 to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2015 US Open. By reaching the final, Djokovic became the third man to reach all four Grand Slam finals in the same year in the Open Era after Rod Laver and Federer.

Lydia Ko becomes youngest major championship winner

Lydia Ko is a Korean-born New Zealand professional golfer who became the youngest player of either gender ever to be ranked No. 1 in professional golf. Upon winning The Evian Championship in France in September 2015 at age 18, she also became the youngest woman ever to win a major championship.

Rafael Nadal wins his first US Open title

Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic to win his first US Open title and was the first Spanish man to win the US Open since Manuel Santana in 1965. It was his ninth career major and he completed the Career Golden Slam with the win. Nadal became the first player since Rod Laver in 1969 to win the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open in the same calendar year.

Regina Rugby Club is founded

The Saskatchewan Roughriders were founded in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club. Although they were not the first team to play football in Western Canada, the club has maintained an unbroken organizational continuity since their founding.
