It was the culmination of his "classic period" albums. Songs in the Key of Life became the best-selling and most critically acclaimed album of Wonder's career.

Andy Kim goes to #1 on the US singles chart

"Rock Me Gently" was a Billboard #1 hit song for Andy Kim in 1974. The single impressed Capitol Records executives, who signed Kim to a deal. "Rock Me Gently" debuted on the Hot 100 and took 14 weeks to reach #1. It also rose to #2 on the UK Singles Chart and #10 in Ireland.

Bad Company go to #1 on the US album chart

Bad Company is the debut studio album by the English hard rock supergroup Bad Company. The album reached the top of the US Billboard 200. Since then, the album has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA and became the 46th best selling album of the 1970s.

The Beatles start a nine week run at #1 on the US singles chart

"Hey Jude" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. The ballad evolved from "Hey Jules", a song McCartney wrote to comfort John Lennon's son, Julian, during his parents' divorce. More than seven minutes in length, it was at the time the longest single ever to top the British charts.
