Keira Knightley beamed during the curtain call of Thérèse Raquin at Studio 54 after making her official Broadway debut in Manhattan Thursday. However, while the 30-year-old actress may have received a warm reception on the night, the critics have been left less than impressed.

'Finian's Rainbow' opens in a Broadway revival

A fully staged Broadway revival opened at the St. James Theatre with most of the Encores! cast and director-choreographer Carlyle returning. Notable replacements to the cast were Christopher Fitzgerald as Og the leprechaun, David Schramm as Senator Rawkins and Chuck Cooper as Rawkins transformed into a black man.

Trial of art forger Han van Meegeren begins in Amsterdam

Han van Meegeren was an art forger who was accused of selling a real Dutch painting to Hermann Göring during the Nazi Occupation of the Netherlands, which officials did not approve. However, van Meegeren had sold only forgery, hence he was convicted just on falsification and was sentenced for one year only.

Mozart's opera 'Don Giovanni' premieres in Prague

The opera was commissioned as a result of the overwhelming success of Mozart's trip to Prague in January and February 1787. The subject matter may have been chosen in consideration of the long history of Don Juan operas in Prague; the genre of 18th century Don Juan opera originated in Prague. The opera was first performed under its full title of Il dissoluto punito ossia il Don Giovanni.
