'The Interview' premieres in Los Angeles

The Interview is an American comedy movie produced and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg in their second directorial work, following This Is the End. The screenplay is by Dan Sterling, based upon a story he co-authored with Rogen and Goldberg. The premiere was held in Los Angeles.

P!nk is at #1 on the US singles chart with 'Raise Your Glass'

"Raise Your Glass" is a song by American singer Pink from her first greatest hits compilation Greatest Hits... So Far!!!. The song was written by Pink, Max Martin, and Karl "Shellback" Schuster, and produced by the latter two, who are responsible for many of Pink's hits. In the US, "Raise Your Glass" recharged Pink's chart performance, becoming her 10th Top 10 hit and her third number one hit.

'V for Vendetta' is released

V for Vendetta is a 2005 dystopian political thriller movie directed by James McTeigue and written by The Wachowskis, based on the 1988 DC/Vertigo Comics limited series of the same name by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. V for Vendetta had its first major premiere at Butt-Numb-A-Thon, followed by a premiere at the Berlin Film Festival.

Snoop Dogg and Pharrell are at #1 on the US singles chart

Drop It Like It's Hot is a hit single by American rapper Snoop Dogg featuring American singer and producer Pharrell. Snoop Dogg performs the chorus and the second and third verses, while Pharrell performs the first verse. The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for 3 weeks making it Snoop Dogg's first number one on the chart. It was also his 4th top 10 as a solo artist.

Janet Jackson is at #1 on the US singles chart with 'Again'

"Again" was a success on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching the top 40. The song topped the Billboard charts for 2 weeks, being certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in December. The song was also a success on other Billboard component charts, including the Top 40 Mainstream.

'Wall Street' is released

Wall Street is an American drama movie, directed and co-written by Oliver Stone, which stars Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, and Daryl Hannah. The film tells the story of Bud Fox, a young stockbroker who becomes involved with Gordon Gekko, a wealthy, unscrupulous corporate raider. Stone made the movie as a tribute to his father, Lou Stone, a stockbroker during the Great Depression.

Toni Basil is at #1 on the US singles chart with 'Mickey'

"Mickey" is a song recorded by American singer and choreographer Toni Basil on her debut album Word of Mouth. Written by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn as "Kitty", it was first recorded by UK music group Racey appearing on their debut album Smash and Grab. The single scored number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for one week and number 2 in the UK Singles Chart.

'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner' premieres in NYC

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is an American comedy-drama movie produced and directed by Stanley Kramer, and written by William Rose. It stars Spencer Tracy, Sidney Poitier, and Katharine Hepburn. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner was a box-office hit in 1968 throughout the US, including in Southern states where it was traditionally assumed that few white filmgoers would want to see any film with black leads.

The Marvelettes are at #1 on the US singles chart

"Please Mr. Postman" is a song written by Georgia Dobbins, William Garrett, Freddie Gorman, Brian Holland, and Robert Bateman. It is the debut single by the Marvelettes for the Tamla label, notable as the 1st Motown song to reach the number-one position on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart.

Elvis Presley starts a 20-week run at #1 on the US album chart

Blue Hawaii is the 4th soundtrack album by American singer Elvis Presley, released on RCA Victor Records in mono and stereo. It is the soundtrack to the 1961 film of the same name starring Presley. In the US, the album spent 20 weeks at the number one slot and 39 weeks in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top Pop LPs chart.
