Non-stop flight around the world

Experimental aircraft Voyager took off from Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert. It was piloted by Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager. They circumnavigated the world in 9 days, 3 minutes and 44 seconds without a stop or refueling. They established a manned flight endurance record, which still holds today.

South Pole

A team made up of Ronald Amundsen, Olav Bjaaland, Helmer Hanssen, Sverre Hassel, Oscar Wisting and sixteen dogs reached the South Pole. They named their camp Polheim, meaning “Home on the Pole”. They left a tent with a letter stating their accomplishment. Thirty-three days later, the tent was discovered by the expedition of Ronald Scott.
