Lincoln Tunnel is opened

The Lincoln Tunnel is an approximately 1.5-mile-long tunnel under the Hudson River, connecting Weehawken, New Jersey on the west bank with Midtown Manhattan in New York City on the east bank. It was designed by Ole Singstad and named after Abraham Lincoln.

Debussy's 'Prélude à l'apres-midi d'un faune' premieres in Paris

Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune is a symphonic poem for orchestra by Claude Debussy. It premiered in Paris conducted by Gustave Doret. The work later provided the basis for the ballet Afternoon of a Faun choreographed by Vaslav Nijinsky and a later version by Jerome Robbins.

Beethoven conducts and performs in concert in Vienna

The Beethoven concert was a benefit concert held for Ludwig van Beethoven at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna that featured the public premieres of Beethoven's Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, the Fourth Piano Concerto and the Choral Fantasy. This concert occurred in a very cold hall and was approximately four hours in duration.
