Helen Reddy is at #1 on the US singles chart with 'Angie Baby'

"Angie Baby" is a popular song that was written by American Alan O'Day, and became a hit for Australian singer Helen Reddy. The song reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1974 and became one of Reddy's biggest-selling singles. The song also topped the U.S. adult contemporary chart, Reddy's fifth #1 on this chart.

The Lumière brothers perform for their first paying audience

The Lumières gave their first paid public screening at Salon Indien du Grand Café in Paris. This history-making presentation featured 10 short films, including their first film, Sortie des Usines Lumière à Lyon. Each film is 17 meters long, which, when hand cranked through a projector, runs approximately 50 seconds.
